CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation)

  1. Check Responsiveness: Tap the person’s shoulder and shout to see if they respond.
  2. Call for Help: If there’s no response, call emergency services immediately or ask someone else to call.
  3. Chest Compressions: Place the heel of one hand in the center of the chest (between the nipples) and place your other hand on top. Use your body weight to compress the chest at least 2 inches deep at a rate of 100-120 compressions per minute.
  4. Rescue Breaths: If you’re trained in CPR and comfortable, after 30 compressions, give 2 rescue breaths by tilting the head back, lifting the chin, pinching the nose shut, and breathing into the mouth until the chest rises. Continue with 30 compressions followed by 2 breaths.

Wound Care

  1. Clean the Wound: Rinse the wound with clean water to remove any dirt or debris.
  2. Stop the Bleeding: Apply pressure with a clean cloth or bandage. If bleeding continues, keep applying pressure and add additional layers if needed.
  3. Protect the Wound: Once bleeding has stopped, cover the wound with a sterile bandage or dressing to keep it clean and protected.
  4. Seek Medical Help: For severe wounds, deep cuts, or signs of infection (such as redness, swelling, warmth, or pus), seek medical attention immediately.

Splinting

  1. Support the Injured Part: Keep the injured limb still and provide support to minimize movement and pain.
  2. Apply a Splint: Use a rigid object like a stick, board, or rolled-up magazine. Place it against the injured limb.
  3. Immobilize the Joint: Secure the splint in place with cloth, bandages, or tape. Make sure to immobilize the joints above and below the injury site.
  4. Check Circulation: Ensure that the splint is not too tight by checking for proper blood circulation. Look for signs such as pale skin, coldness, or numbness in the limb. Loosen the splint if needed.

These skills can be lifesaving in an emergency. Always remember to stay calm and seek professional help whenever necessary
